Justin Timberlake, 21st August 2018
Location: Festhalle Frankfurt
Favourite song of the artist: Mirrors
Favourite lyrics: “Sometimes the greatest the way to say something is to say nothing. But I can’t help myself, no I can’t help myself. Caught up in the middle of it.” (Say something)
Favourite song live: Man of the woods/all of the ‘bonfire songs’
Why this artist? Because he is the Justin Timberlake and doesn’t come around too often. I have to admit, that we were talking about selling the tickets again because they were so expensive and we are not that big of Justin Timberlake fans. Also the experience at the location, meaning the incredible heat in there, also made us reconsider. I’m glad we went, though.
Location: Festhalle Frankfurt. Let’s just say that this time they had the temperature under control (check out my post on Bruno Mars, if you don’t get the reference ;))
Concert: From the moment we first stepped into the location, we realised that there were trees everywhere and the stage went basically through the whole room.
The set up was the prelude to one huge show that has apparently been designed with one goal in mind: to give the audience, all the audience, no matter where they stand or how much they paid, the best concert experience possible.
There were video screens and the whole stage was used in a way I hadn’t seen before. He and his band played different parts of the show on different parts of the stage. And sometimes they changed it during the song. It was done in such a clever way that it didn’t matter if you stood front, back, left or right. Several times during the show the whole band would perform right in front of you.
And what can I say, they were all such pros. Justin sang, danced, played guitar, rapped… you name it. But he also managed to shine the light on his band and the amazing musicians and singers in it.
At one point there was a bonfire on stage and they created an atmosphere like they were just friends sitting around a fire, singing to the sounds of the guitar.
Very short review, but all I can say is: What a nice, humble pro and what an amazing band. I loved every minute of that concert.
Do it again?
Yes, absolutely. Even for all that money 😉
