Why this artist?
I liked Bruno Mars since I heard ‚Grenade‘ for the first time.
Festhalle Frankfurt is slightly outside of the town center and close to a big shopping mall. There you can find the only Chipotle in Germany outside of army bases.
The location itself looks way better from the outside than it is on the inside. The hallways are modern and so are the restrooms, but the concert venue itself… SO hot. I don’t know if there is no A/C or if it was broken, but it had at least 40°C in there. Hottest concert venue of the year, hands down.
The simple fact that I can’t even remember who the support act was or what kind of music they played, means that it can’t have been that memorable. In fact, the thing I remember most about this concert from the moment we got in to the second we left is the thought of ‚damn, it’s way too hot in here‘. And I am someone who is always freezing, so that is saying something. Of course, the more people get in, the warmer it gets.
The show started with a bang when they dropped the large sheet that covered the whole stage and the fireworks kept coming. Literally. There were lightshow, lasers,
fireworks, explosions, CO2 shooters, confetti… you name it, they had it.
The whole thing really wasn’t a concert, it was one huge show with all the shebang. Bruno Mars doesn’t only sing, He also dances, jokes and plays instruments on stage. The only thing he didn’t do was fly through the room like Pink does. But who knows, maybe next time?
To this day I find the golden confetti everywhere. My bag, shoes, under the dresser, in the car… To get an idea you can check out the video on instagram
I think when the sound and light technicians undress until all they are wearing is their boxers, it’s save to say it’s too warm at the venue.
Do it again?
Yes, but at a different location. If possible, I’ll try and avoid the Festhalle in the future.
